Optimist Poker Ride for Kids with Cancer is an annual event in support of the Southlake Regional Health Centre Paediatric Oncology Clinic. For the past 9 years, we have worked hard to have a fun and exciting event. Through the generosity of the participants we have raised over $50,000.

Southlake’s Paediatric Oncology Clinic provides vital care in partnership with Sick kids and Paediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), close to home for thousands of young cancer patients in our communities. Since its inception in 2009, it is now the fastest growing POGO satellite clinic in Ontario. Our busy clinic sees over 1,350 patient visits a year. This growth would not have been possible without the strong support from our donors, patients, families, and community support, enabling the program’s success. Moving forward, Southlake is continuing to expand more comprehensive paediatric oncology care by advancing satellite care. As part of a pilot project for the next three to five years, the clinic will increase patient visits by 20 percent, advance supportive care and broaden the scope of chemotherapy treatments. Your support enables Southlake to provide the same leading-edge care offered at downtown hospitals - so much closer to home. As a result, kids can spend more time being kids instead of patients. Support like this, makes a world of difference for families undergoing childhood cancer treatments. In short, community champions like you are keeping families together.

We hope that you will consider supporting the Optimist Poker Ride for Kids with Cancer to help in our fight to make a difference in the lives of children.

Together we ARE making a difference!
